The term cause and effect comes to mine as I write this article. The tough economy brings out the desperation and creativity of thieves looking for away to make a quick dollar. I’m sure it common all over the country when copper plumbing goes missing in many construction sites and phone companies are experiences a large amount of thefts to copper cabling.
The stock ignition system is VERY capable of supplying enough fire for a BPU(TM)’d car. The stock ignition system uses 6 large coils, one for each cylinder. So the system is capable of supporting VERY impressive HP levels. You may need to change to a colder range plug with a tighter gap (see below).
6) Turbochargers. If you have lots of money and are serious about upgrading your car a turbo kit might be what you need. Turbos use the exhaust from your engine to spin a turbine, which forces air into your engine. This pressurizes the air and improves horsepower dramatically. These are not very likely to be something you would install yourself. They also may require other modifications to your car, so the cost is out of reach for most people.
One option is to simply replace the bearings. But that is catalytic converter recycling merely a stop-gap measure. Chances are, if the bearings are damaged, a mechanic will need to resurface the crankshaft. That can be expensive.
Vans are often used for work requirements and as a result transport a range of technical goods, tools and equipment. These items are often valuable and easily sold on by criminals. To avoid property being stolen from your van ensure all valuable items such as tools are removed from the van overnight.
Remove the oxygen sensor wiring connector. Disconnect the Y pipe at the down pipe and at the catalytic converter recyclers. These bolts may be rusty due to heat so using a rust breaker solvent like PB Blaster may help. Be careful not to damage the gaskets if you plan to reuse them.
While it is illegal in most areas for a mechanic to remove them, it may be necessary to replace it. These devices can fail because of exhaust valves that have gone bad on your engine or an overheated converter caused by plugs that have been fouled and have caused unburned fuel. It is difficult to know for sure if there is something wrong with them. However, it is typically clogged if you push down on the gas pedal and do not go faster. It also may be the problem is there is a large drop in your gas mileage. A converter that is partially dropped will be something of an engine governor. It will limit the overall RPMs down. If the device is completely clogged, then the engine will not run for long. Expect it to quit completely after only a couple of minutes.
I hope you’ve learned some of the basics of how you can upgrade your VW to get better performance out of it. Just remember to do your research before making a purchase, as there are a lot of products out there attempting to scam people like us.
